Christen Hartig is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in family advocacy, children's services, and adoption. As Executive Director of Adoption Support Services of Florida, she brings not just professional expertise but a genuinely personal passion for helping families grow through adoption.
Christen's connection to adoption runs deeper than a career. She grew up in this practice, literally. Her mother, Lori Fraas, LCSW, founded Adoption Support Services of Florida in 1996, and Christen spent her childhood watching what dedicated, compassionate adoption advocacy looks like up close. When Lori retired, Christen was ready to carry on that legacy with the same personal touch that defined the practice for decades.
Because she has worked with adoptive parents, adopted children, and birth families throughout her career, Christen brings a uniquely broad perspective to every home study. She understands all sides of the adoption triad, not from textbooks, but from real relationships built across years of practice.
Christen will answer your calls and emails personally. She'll travel throughout Florida to complete your home visit. She'll write your home study report, review it with you, and welcome your feedback. And she'll be genuinely thrilled to meet your child when your adoption is complete. This is not a policy. A Family Legacy of Serving Florida Families
Adoption Support Services of Florida was founded in 1996 by Lori Fraas, LCSW. Lori had been working with various adoption agencies when she noticed a pattern: families who hired agencies for home studies alone were not receiving the personal attention and care they needed during one of the most important seasons of their lives.
She set out to change that, building a practice centered on prompt, personal, and professional service delivered by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, not delegated to unlicensed support staff. That commitment resonated. Over the next 15+ years, Adoption Support Services of Florida completed more than 1,500 home studies, and Lori became widely recognized as an expert in Florida adoption, including as an active Florida Adoption Council member.
When Christen followed in her mother's footsteps and earned her LCSW, the opportunity arose for them to work together, supporting families side by side. When Lori retired, Christen stepped fully into the role, carrying forward every value that made this practice exceptional.
What Lori built, Christen continues. The faces may have changed, but the promise hasn't: every family who works with Adoption Support Services of Florida receives the same dedicated, personal, professional care.
